I agree the pharmaceutical "cartel" has a huge influence.  Also the AMA
doesn't want it's doctors losing patients, income (dollars) to inexpensive
therapies, such EDTA chelation as an alternative to bypass surgery.  The
office of alternative medicine, a branch of the NIH,
was supposed to provide funding for trials of alternative therapies.  So far
it has been a failure, probably do to the same influence.  What it boils down
is the establishment is worried more about money then people's health.
