>Liza My (AOL) just shut me off, and erased the rest of your post
Anyway, would you be so kind as to send your great message again? I'd
appreciate it!
I was going to send this via private e-mail, but since I added 2
references, I'll post it on the list.
The post was just about done.
I mentioned that Dr. balch mentioned that edema can be caused by
allergies.
Have you ever done a medline serch on edema or any other health issue.
They can be quite informative and there free at:
http://www.nlm.nih.gov/databases/freemed.html
Also, while I'm on the subject of reference resources, are you familiar
with the Townsend Letter for Doctors and Patients.
Although it is a hard copy magazine(10 issues/year),you can get an idea
of what they are about at their website
http://www.tldp.com
They have a searchable database so maybe they have had articles on
edema.Back issues can be purchased. The Townsend letter is sort of, imo,
like the alternative MD's bible. I especially like the letters to the
editors. When an MD goes alternative, they sure can be opinionated. Its
not raw ( but then not much of the world is). But they are honest and
they are truth seekers in their own right and I bet, being a professional
nutrtionalsts, you can take it off your taxes or stick it to your
employer.
The remainder is the same as the previous post which AOL lost for
Liza;so will be redundant for those who read the first post.
The following is entirely speculative. I'm not claiming any of the
following suggestions would be tremendously effective against edema.
But if I had water retention I would consider the following minor
lifestyle changes:
Liza, you mentioned that you were into weight lifting. Don't you think
jogging ,aerobics or hatha yoga would be a better choice? The jogging
and aerobics are to induce sweat, of course. Hatha yoga makes the claim
of toning and strengthening glands and organs. I have been doing hatha
for about 2 years and, although I can't offer any scientific proof, from
my experience hatha does seem to benefit organ and gland functioning.
And isn't our vitality and longevity more closely related to organ and
gland health than muscularity? Not that I have a hate thing going
against lifting weights. During the winter months I normally lift 3
days a week. Also, Liza, if you have a sauna available, consider using
it 2 or 3 times a week (beware excessive use of a sauna can dry out the
skin)
Best Regards
Roy Siegel
