Kirk:
You poor baby. I know how you feel. I have been on this list for
months and just knew that I couldn't give up my coffee. I didn't even
drink it just for the caffeine, I loved the taste. Try not having any
caffeine for a day or two - no substitutes - and while I can't guarantee
anything - I think you may find that you don't need it so much. I also
think that the caffeine causes more problems for your insulin levels
than a little juice. Note I said little. I tried drinking it black for
a few days and that wasn't so swell. My taste buds changed in a short
while and I didn't want it at all (if I couldn't have it with my cream
and sweet-n-lo). I really like the "fruit" herb teas but of course
there is no "rush" with them. We always crave the things that are the
worst for us. Our bodies don't want to go through the withdrawal. I
really think that you will be surprised how you feel without caffeine.
Sometimes I make a full pot and I use 2 green tea bags and 4 decaf
bags. Even then I can feel the caffeine. My sensitivity has changed.
A cup of coffee would probably send me through the roof. I told my
sister that since I had stopped caffeine that I stay on an even keel now
with no highs or lows. She applauded my efforts and said that it was
probably nicer for my employees too. I explained to her that it didn't
stop me from being irritated and bitchy, it just stopped the highs and
lows.
Good Luck to you Kirk, you really will feel better.
Love, Bev
