My supplement packet says that the RDA for an adult is 800mg calcium and
5 IUg of vitamin D. I should think that the RDA for children is close
to that of adults, not proportionate, so I suspect one chew is hitting
the spot pretty well for calcium. Remember that these are often
formulated to take into account more incidental calcium ingestion (in
food) than the average milk allergic or intolerant child is getting.

I'm pretty sure that calcium is not harmful in large doses (i.e up to
several times RDA) in the general population - not so sure about Vitamin
D though - perhaps someone else can let us know about toxicity of these
in large doses.
