I would also find it necessary to write a letter to her and explain your
situation and her children's possible genetic connection.  If her
children are suffering, she may well take a look at the information
quietly and never respond.  She may just toss it out a window and never
think about it again, but then you would at least know you had tried to
approach the topic.

Of course, I always side with the children though....
