Much later, I think at least a year, I was advised that it was Georgia Marble &
was involved in mock-ups that lead to eventual blasting the structure with beaded
glass in order to even out the contrast between the dutchmen & the tuckahoe. The
building looked like it had white measles. Borough President Golden wanted it to
look homogenous. The tuckahoe, I suspect, dirtied up faster than anyone expected,
certainly dirtier than the dutchmen.
