I was picturing the image of early man squatting on the ground before the leavings of a larger (or other) animal's kill.  Bones would probably be already cracked somewhat.  Do you eat raw chicken?  I know that you consume aged, raw beef.  I, too, enjoy marrow of all types (my husband will leave the room - so I tend to avoid eating it around him which technically leaves me not eating it).  I have to go now, but maybe we can continue this later.
