The problem is that AOL perceives _netcom_ (not Preservation-L) as a
spammers' domain. Newsgroups I follow indicate that there have been
problems with spam originating from netcom subscribers. When this happens
at a sufficient quantity, then the wizards of the internet community
transportation network begin to constrain that domain. Note that a rogue
or two will not usually result in a domain being anti-spammed, but repeated
abuse will. The result is that _any_ mail originating from a netcom
address is bounced.

It is my understanding that AOL has some kind of anti-spam software that
rejects mail from spam domains. If you elect to implement it, then mail
from _any and all domains_ that are on their anti-spam list will not be
forwarded to your mailbox, but automatically bounced. If you want to
receive P-L mail, you must opt out of their anti-spam filter system, which
I believe you can do. This of course also means that all those wonderful
opportunities to make a fortune selling hair restorer to your neighbors and
to survey the bounteous landscape of Heather's naked form will be delivered
to your mail box.

The good news is that it appears that netcom is serious about addressing
this issue and is taking measures to suspend the accounts of those
subscribers that are violating the protocols of the 'net by using netcom as
a spam gateway. Hopefully this will restore netcom to some standing of
good grace, but it will be a slow process to reverse the damage that has
been done.

Sorry about that, AOLers. If you have alternate providers, you may wish to
re-subscribe to P-L using that provider as your mail address.

Another option, if this continues to be a problem, is for Anthony to move
P-L to a different provider. That of course would be a colossal hassle,
with logistical nightmares that are not fun to contemplate. Having a
domain become banned for spam is really an unfortunate occurance, as you
folks are discovering.

Regards
