EASI ROUNDTABLE WEEKLY September 24
EASI's new weekly audio webcasts on information technology will begin
this week and be webcast every Thursday. Join us at 9 Easter, 8
Central, 7 Mountain and 6 Pacific on the web at
http://www.rit.edu/~easi
Pick the webcast link and then pick the roundtable link. In fact, if
you go there now, you can listen to a short introduction to this
internet talk show. Besides interviewing users and providers on
information technology, you can email questions and become part of the
conversation.
Below is the schedule for the first month of webcasts with some
information about the guests.
Upcoming Roundtable Interviews
Sept 24. Dr. Raman and Adobe Systems: a conversation about document
formats and various strategies for making them more accessible in
differing formats.
Oct. 1 Dr. Raman Returns to Answer Email Questions
Oct. 8 Steve Gilbert with the Teaching, Learning and Technology Group
is joined with Dr. C Green who has conducted a nine-year-long campus
computer survey to discuss current trends in technology and education.
Dr. Coombs and Richard Banks discuss its implications for students
with disabilities.
Oct. 15 Email Questions about Education and Universal Access will be
answered by a panel of nationally known professionals.

EASI Roundtable Presents Dr. T. V. Raman Sept. 24

Dr. T. V. Raman is with Adobe Systems and is insturmental in makeing
PDF files accessible to all people. He revieced his doctorate at
Cornell University in 1994. It outlined a sophisticated auditory
interface to electronic documents. Raman described AsTer in a video
interview.
The interview covers the topics of access to Adobe, PDF files and
EMACS Speaks, an intuitive screen reading program for Unix and Lynux
users.
