Michael - Merci for the chowder info. My favorite is from the Black Pearl  on
Bowen's Wharf in (ugh!) Newport, R.I. Nice and thick, but not done with corn
starch. Plenty of clam hunks. Bets to go in the winter - fewer crowds. Local
legend has it that JFK sent over for this stuff from Hammersmith Farm. The
reality is that the B.P. opened about four years after he bit the grassy
knoll.
