After almost 3 years raw, I was lucky enough to have eaten cassia to the
stop for months at a time, every morning, while living in Thailand (over
the course of 4 years minus summers) where is was easily gathered from
roadsides, riversides, golf courses, etc. Before that I had access to only
a few pods a couple times a year. There was never an indication of a
dependence. It can be uncomfortable--enough so that most folks don't really
want to use it much. One approach, especially if one's cassia suplly was
limited, would be to save it for when you are feeling bad/detoxy and only
use it then. Others recommend that it be tested (for attraction) daily for
a few months in the beginning of 100% raw. I know of no rawster who has
"overdosed" on it, even when consuming a few pods in one sitting. If
attention is paid to the flavor and it it not consumed when it tastes
unpleasant, I can't see any problem.

On the other hand, like any colon cleaser dealy, some folks might abuse it.
I can imagine certain folks saying, "Well, I sure blew it last night"
(dietary-wise) and then using cassia to "clean out"--almost a binge purge
type thing.

BTW, I have eaten some cassia while eating cooked paleo-foods and it wasn't
much different than using it all-raw, but that may have been because my
system was so used to it from our Thailand days. Who knows? Not I!

Cheers,
Kirt
