The rule that manyu people follow is not to mix sugar and protein at the same
meal. This seems weird, as most of us were used to eating meat+starch, followed
by a sweet dessert, without experiencing any digestive problems. Most people say
that raw fruits and raw meat are easily digested; so, why bother about
combinations?
I think it really depends on how much fruit (by volume) you eat. Obviously, if
you eat 2 dates or 1 banana, your digestion should be OK. But raw food eaters
typically eat much more than that, and the digestive system may not be able to
handle so much water and fiber.
I found that eating 3 big tomatoes after raw fish resulted in a certain
digestive discomfort. But dates cause much less problems, since they are more
concentrated.
Best wishes,
Jean-Louis
