The Internet could yet lead to the reemergence of critical faculties, the
absence of which in recent times has been much deplored. We are now learning
to habitually suspect everything we read or see if it's not accompanied by
verifiable references. Very few people who have spent any time on line who
have not been duped, or at least been subject of an attempt. Perhaps though,
what is developing is a sort of electronic siege mentality; suspicion for
its own sake without the support of a critical dialogue. Except on BP, that
is!
