Now I am totally confused. In the past I have had several attacks, usually
after having been out to eat. It usually starts about 6 hours later, I have
abdominal cramping that is so severe I have fainted from it, followed by
hours of diarrhea until I am sure my system is empty. Occasionally vomiting
also. I usually recover in about 24 hours. I don't think this is a type of
influenza as I have no other symptons. And it has happened twice in the same
week. I was assuming this was a reaction to a gluten accident. Does anyone
else have this type of reaction? What are the clinical signs of a gluten
accident?
I am a biopsy diagnosed celiac, but I never had the continual diarrhea and
cramping with weight loss. I had a lot of abdominal pain that resembled gall
bladder disease but my gp was unable to find any stones with several ultra
sound tests. I finally insisted he send me to a GI specialist, who diagnosed
celiac. I still have problems with occasional pain in my ribs and in my
upper back. The GI specialist says it is probably arthritis.(I am 50) If
there is something else I could be doing to feel better I would be willing to
try. My health is a lot better than it was a couple of years ago, but it is
far from 100%. I would appreciate any comments members of the list might
have for me. Thanks, Linda in Iowa
