There are many diets floating around, and almost none of them
have been studied in any very systematic way. The diet consumer
is therefore in the position of having to make a judgment based
on the theoretical plausibility of the diet, based on available
background information, plus testimonials.
We can say that Ray Audette's ideas make sense, but we don't have
controlled studies of large groups of people following his
program. We are in pretty much the same position with respect to
the Zone, Atkins, Protein Power, you name it. Actually, it might
not be quite as bad with Atkins and Protein Power, since these
programs come from physicians who have treated large numbers of
people and kept records.
