Personally, I do eat green beans, because their carbohydrate level is low,
and I haven't noticed any adverse effects from them.  I do not eat most
other beans, as they are much too starchy.  I also don't eat peas, even
though they're certainly edible raw, because of their high starch content.
(I guess you could say I'm doing Atkins/Protein Power with a NEanderthin
twist).
