A recent post on suggestions for college help included:
"9. Request dorm with kitchenette. They are required to allow this since
Celiac is a medically diagnosed disability under the Americans with
Disabilities Act (ADA)."
Is this in fact true? I believe the ADA states that a medical condition
must substantially limit one or more major life functions to be covered by
the Act. If celiac is a protected disability, what about people with any
other dietary restriction? Just wondering, as the implications for
reasonable accommodation under the Act are broad.
