Drug Information from the Greater Philadelphia (PA) Celiac-Sprue Support
Group.

Because of adverse effects of gluten in the diet of celiac-sprue patients,
strict adherence to a gluten-free diet is essential. Thus pharmaceuticals
must be taken into consideration. Not only do fillers in drugs and vitamins
change from batch to batch, but the coating does as well. Therefore, for
each drug used, a check of the filler and coating must be made. To obtain
this information you must know:
  1) the lot number of the drug from which your prescription has been filled
  2) the manufacturer of the drug.
Get this information from the pharmacist. If you have a "nice"
pharmacist, he will call the company for you or you may have to call them
yourself because some do not understand the GF diet.
Many of the pharmaceutical companies have a toll-free number. To obtain
it call toll-free information: 1-800-555-1212 or at your library, there
may be a "Physician's Desk Reference" book which has all the toll-free
phone numbers.

Thought this info might help some of the celiac patients on this list.
Sincerely,
Cindy in NJ
