I have changed the subject line above to make it more obvious on
searches. I don't use this search feature since it is so much easier
to use the web interface at
http://maelstrom.stjohns.edu/archives/raw-food.html
I did the following tests. All messages were sent to
[log in to unmask]
For SUBJECT I used the message line that I sent so that I could
identify which message listserv was responding to, but remember that
listserv only executes commands in the body of the message.
DO NOT put a signature file or anything else in the body of your
message to LISTSERV that is not a proper command. If LISTSERV is
confused you will not get back what was expected.
All responses came back to me in a few minutes. If you don't receive
your response from listserv quickly, there usually has been a problem
in what you sent. There are a few possible exceptions to the above.
At midnight (Eastern time) each night, maelstrom goes through a
special cycle to update the days activities. Also occasionally the
computer gets hung up and must be re-started. This re-start occurs
when someone notices the problem.
I have capitalized all of my commands so that they stand out. Listserv
doesn't care. You can send the commands in upper case, lower case or a
MixTuRE.
I sent messages as follows
INFO RAW-FOOD
here is part of the response from listserv

Archives are kept in monthly files. You may obtain a list of files
in the archives by sending the command
GET RAW-FOOD FILELIST
in the BODY of e-mail to [log in to unmask]
Archives of the postings can be found at:
http://maelstrom.stjohns.edu/archives/raw-food.html

next I sent the following command
SEARCH RAW-FOOD GLUTEN
I got back a 43kb file that listed every message that contained the
word gluten. I could have specified a date range in my search command
which would have limited the size of my response.
> search raw-food gluten
-> 93 matches.

I'm going to try sprouting the low (no?) gluten grains (buckwheat,

quinoa, millet) and see if that helps.

I chose to just get one of the posts so I sent the following message
GETPOST RAW-FOOD 1675
this got me the entire message.
I also sent this message
GET RAW-FOOD FILELIST
this gave me a list of the raw-food files that could be sent by
listserv as e-mail, all of the monthly log files (logYYMM e.g.
log9703) and the WELCOME (automatically sent to new subscribers),
FAREWELL (automatically sent when a subscriber leaves the list) and
DBSEARCH (which explains how to do database searches).
I hope this is clear. If anyone is still having problems or
questions. please e-mail me and I will try to solve it.
