After reading recent posts I dug out a letter that my friend Gail who
lives in Tokyo wrote me about 5 years ago. Her son Tad had been reading
a lot for school and was becoming nearsighted. Apparently this is
common, but the treatment, so far successful on many (on kids tho) is to
do 30 minutes of slow, firm shiatsu (acupressure massage) on the scalp
daily for a month or two. I had never heard of this before, but I
recall talking to her afterwards (last discussion abouat that was 2 yrs
ago) and her son Tad never did have to get glasses after that
treatment.
They have a mainly but not strictly Japanese diet with routine
consumption of sashimi - fresh, raw ocean fish.
