>From Judy:
One of my favorite raw foods recipe books is
The Life Food Recipe Book by Annie and David Jubb.
I like it because the recipes are very creative. Among some I have tried
(and changed slightly, for lack of all the right ingredients) and enjoyed are:
Live Apple Pie
Coconut Orgasm Soup (I added the tahini after removing it from the stove. I
heated it only slightly, using my finger as a guide. It was just warm to my
finger, not hot.)
Beet Soup
Refreshing Cream of Celery & Cucumber Soup (non-dairy)
The book contains the following sections:
Introduction
(Food as medicine/Enzymes and blue green algae/hybrid foods/excitotoxins)
Soups
Salads & Entrees
Dressings, Sauces & Marinades
Nut, Seed & Grain Dishes
Fruit Meals & Desserts
Beverages
Sample Menus
Lotions, Potions, Tinctures & Tonics
Definition of Terms
(Bragg Liquid aminos/celtic sea salt/charged water/cold pressed oil/DMSO/Dr.
Bronners mineral bouillon/ferments/lecithin and flax seed meal/raw apple
cider vinegar/raw clover honey/raw miso/raw sesame tahini/raw soy or tamari
sauce/rejuvelac/shaking jar/sprouting/unpasteurized)
The ABCs of Lifefood Nutrition
(LifeFood nutrition/Seven elements of the metaphysician lifestyle/the
vibrant vegetarin/light/clean water to drink and bathe in/chlorine,
fluorine, aluminum/organically grown produce/juicing and nutritional
fasting/cleansing reactions/whole food supplements/three things most
everyone is deficient in/essential fatty acids/cold pressed oil/sea
vegetables/honey, bee pollen & propolys/a note to the hypoglycemic and
diabetic/a note about freckles/the nightshades/therapeutic dose of enzymes
w/blue green algae/DMSO/pH (parts of hydrogen)/specialists tend to ignore
the whole/case study: MM)
Here's a sample recipe from the book that I haven't yet tried. (Is it good
to combine fruit and veg?) Quoting from the book:
Beet & Apple Salad
3 medium beets
4 apples (tart ones are great here)
1 lime juiced, less if desired
1/8 cup raw sesame seed
Finely grate beet and apple. Toss together with lime juice to taste. Grind
sesame seed to a meal in coffee grinder (a few seconds) and top. This dish
is so sweet & yummy. A brightly colored side dish for four.
The book contains a few recipes with ingredients I no longer believe in,
such as cashews (see Tom Billings's explanation -- somewhere in the web
archives -- of how nuts are processed). But all in all, this recipe book is
worth the $25 purchase price for 117 large sized pages.
It's published in NYC by Excellence, Inc.'s Whole Brain Functioning.
