great going!

Have you tried the White Wave Dairyless yogurt? It is quite good, really, and
full of protein. Be sure to get one with the parve not blackened out, however,
as they recently were having some problems with getting a pure culture. The
pure soy stuff is back now.

Avoid the cheeses also. There are many good recipes in the archives and I am
sending another message with how to look there to the list. We mostly use tofu
instead of white cheeses in most things, and it comes out fine. Yellow cheese
we just miss. :-( Tofu is very high in protein too (and really quite
inexpensive)!

When we first went dairy free, we just avoided cereals for a long time. Frozen
Van's waffles, oatmeal (made with water), and raisin bread toast became staples
for awhile. Served with applesauce instead of honey or syrup, YUM! When
cereal was really wanted, we just at it dry by the handfuls (very kid
friendly).

We slowly reintroduced the milk substitutes and they seemed pretty good....

Try the Chocolate Tofu pudding in the archives (at least I think its there...if
not ask and I'll send it again...). It is good! My very picky sister couldn't
even tell the difference when I put it in a pie shell for the holidays!

When baking, be sure to use dairy free ingredients and you can also use
applesauce to substitute about half of the fat (oil, margarine, Crisco, etc.).

In all honesty I can't recommend any of the casien free cheese like stuff.
Anyone out there could make some really good bucks off all us despirate folk,
so I am sure there isn't a really good one available or we would have told each
other about it by now. :-D
