What has Chomsky said about Reparations for African Americans?

The discussion of Reparations for African Americans and indigenous people,
once thought to be limited to "extremist" groups, is now discussed widely
by many. The upcoming U.N. World Conference Against Racism that will be
held in Durban South Africa in August 2001, will see the issue of
Reparations front and center on its agenda.

Public information about Reparations is often misleading, exaggerated and
confusing. To this end, the Race Relations Institute at Fisk University
with support from the White House is sponsoring a public information
session on Reparations on February 23, 2001 at Fisk University. The
conference is *free* and open to the public.

To register, simply fax your name, address and telephone number to:
1-615-329-8806

*Confirmed* speakers for the conference are:

Alexander Pires - Attorney for Black farmers who sued the Federal
                  Government

Haunani Trask - Professor of Hawaiian Studies, the University of Hawaii,
and author of _Act of War_ which details the takeover of
                Hawaii by the Federal Government

Jon Van Dyke - Law Professor at the University of Hawaii who has written
several papers on the right of indigenous people to sue
                for Reparations

Congressman John Conyers and/or a representative from his office

Kevin Outterson - attorney who has published extensively on the issue of
Reparations

Invitations still out:
----------------------

Conrad Worrill, President National Black United Front

Adjoa Aiyetoro - long-time social justice activist who serves as legal
consultant to the National Coalition of Blacks for Reparations in America,
also known as N'COBRA

Randall Robinson - author of _The Debt: What America Owes Blacks_

Charles Ogletree - Professor of Law, Harvard University
