Have you noticed how you can be almost anything you want. You can follow
any religious belief you wish, you can belong to any nationality you want to
and you can follow any cultural tradition you desire. You can do anything
you like, except challenge capitalist economics.

There is only one taboo left in the world, challenging capitalism. Capital
is able to take religious, racial, national and cultural disputes in its
stride. All across the world people are at each others throats because of
religious, national and cultural reasons. At the end of the day it doesn't
matter who wins, as long as they're interested in following the capitalist
road. Any person or group that takes matters a little further and
challenges capitalist methods of production soon finds out the meaning of
the glass ceiling.

As long as people are able to concentrate their energy on peripheral issues
everything is fine in the land of the rich and free. As soon as people
break out of their economic boundaries they soon find out that there is a
price to pay for their indiscretions. Capitalism is sacrosanct, everything
else is negotiable. The beauty about global culture is that it understands
that anything outside economics is peripheral to the main game. If
society's decide to tear themselves apart because of racial, nationalistic,
religious or cultural reasons, it doesn't really matter.

As soon as they challenge capitalist modes of production and capitalist
relationships all shit hits the fan.

That benign attitude that is taken to religious, national, racial and
cultural questions is replaced with a mood of disbelief and anger. Be
anything you want, do anything you want, but don't challenge economic
orthodoxy's, if you do, don't be surprised at the reaction your opinions
cause. Whatever you do don't call into question the post-modern holy cow,
capitalism, if you do, get ready for an almighty backlash.
