Any notion that socialism has failed and capitalism has triumphed should at
least acknowledge the temporary and relative nature of such ideas.
The guys with spears triumphed and the guys with clubs failed, etc. Many
theorists of capital will tell you it has never existed, and the same is
easily true of what's called socialism.

It is and has been a world dominated by capital and the privately controlled
free market for quite some time now - including the time of the soviet
attempt at another model - and all governments that were alleged to be
socialist were operating on behalf of maintaining the domination of capital.
They, and it, are still in control, but no one should be in despair, or be
smug. The guys with spears were eventually failures, etc.
