community currency systems, such as letsystems and timedollars, are much
more than barter, although they are often called such.
to barter is to trade goods and services for other goods and services
without using money as a means of exchange.
community currencies provide people, institutions, businesses, and
community service organizations with an abundant, interest free money
supply.
many of the problems being addressed on this conference are rooted in a
capitalist system that runs on conventional money, which sucks and
corrupts...better to use our own.
the letsystem (http://www.gmlets.u-net.com/go/) is the most widely used and
powerful such currency...it is not a paper currency such as ithaca money.

"The love of (conventional) money is the root of much evil for it corrupts
our communities and lays waste the planet" (ernie yacub)
community currencies...abundant, interest free money that always comes home.

>Harry Veeder,
> Aren't you talking rather about a barter system with a private currency?
>The currency would be the standard for easily transferring the credits and
