From my limited exposure to newsgroups, I will point out one disadvantage.
The ones I have read had quite a bit of junk e-mail advertising in them.
Some spammers have software that automatically sends stuff out to all the
newsgroups.

internet  newsgroup would give raw foods even more exposure than the list does, as
I  believe it is easier to search for a newsgroup than a mailing list.
