It is interesting to note that, contrary to widespread beliefs, a
RAF-alone diet is generally easier to sustain than a fruitarian
one. For instance, Eskimos eat almost 100% raw meat, and probably wouldn't
survive on fruits alone... However, a RAF-monomeal leaves me
unsatisfied, I prefer RAF combined with veggies.

Suppressing something completely for a while seems an efficient method
to reduce cravings. After my 10-day fast, it was very easy for me to
give up cooked food.

Nevertheless, eating unnatural food during the first months may be
useful in reducing frustrations: typically, dried fruits, unsoaked
nuts. A few months ago, I regularly ate "raw" cashews (packs of 0.5
kg!). Of course, the fact that the taste change wasn't efficient
worried me, but even after I was aware that these nuts were in fact
cooked, I continued (and felt like a pig). After maybe 15 diarrhea
(and related problems), I finally gave up cashews without regrets...
Same thing for dates: I ate maybe 40 kg in three months (nothing to be
proud of), but now the feeling that I have had enough soft fruits is
very satisfactory.

Best,

Jean-Louis
