Janis,
I had quite a ride with the candida/yeast thing over the past few years!
I developed a candida overgrowth a month or two after I had several Hg
fillings installed; when I realized what had happened and had them removed,
the yeast at first seemed to be flushed out of my system when I detoxed the
Hg. I relapsed again one night after eating a a large bowl of cherries
before bedtime, but over time the problem, with help from a fairly strict
diet and probiotic supplements, slowly disappeared for good. I no longer
take antifungals; several months ago when I stopped them I felt no
different. A few weeks later I challenged myself with a high dose of
Nystatin and there were no die-off symptoms; that confirmed Candida no
longer was a problem. So I now eat a fair amount of fruits, although too
much sweet fruit still makes me temporarily feel a bit spacy, but that
seems to be a common problem in general from sugar overload.
I don't think Candida is ever the root cause of any illness, but boy when
you are sick it just makes things that much worse!
Paul
