, Lianne wrote asking about cravings, so here is my 2c4u.
I have found that the worst part about cravings is _now_; ie I mean in the
present, today.
When I am trying to give up something that I am addicted to (eg cigarrettes,
cheese on toast,...u name it) and I'm 'ready' then I remind myself that
today is the worst day for cravings. If I get thru today, tomorrow will be
easier.
This is not make-believe, its how it works.
Each day is the hardest you have to face. But each hard day is easier than
the previous one was.
There is a whole lot more explanation that I could do, but if you are
serious about it, keep reminding yourself of things like "I only have to
survive today", "only x hours till I go to sleep" etc.
If you try it, let me know how you get on.
Oh, one more thing: once you've succeeded the first day you know you can
beat it, because that was the worst day - the rest is easier.
Also, if you succumb at any point, its much harder to start again. But you
can also say "Just today, I'm just giving up today. Tomorrow I can have
some if I want. " and look forward a bit to having some tomorrow. When
tomorrow becomes today, nothing changes !!!
Have fun :>)
