Here are some comments and corrections to the list of raw food resources
submitted by David R. Mayne 1 Twenty-First Century Publications

1 Twenty-First Century Publications
  P.O. Box 702, Fairfield, IA 52556 ph. (800) 593-2665, (514) 472-5105
Provides a variety of raw food and healing books, including all
of Viktoras Kulvinskas books still in print. Accepts Visa/MC/Amex,
  foreign orders, provides catalogue. DRM

Why is Viktoras so enthusiastic about super blue-green alge?
Why did he leave his job as a computer programmer at Harvard?
Is Viktoras really healthy? Does Viktoras really LOOK healthy?

4 Victoria Bidwell, Get Well*Stay Well, America!
1776 The Hygiene Joy Way, Mount Vernon, Washington 98273
ph. (360) 428-3687. Victoria Bidwell authored a Natural Hygiene
reference, THE HEALTH SEEKERS'S YEARBOOK, and offers other books from
other authors on raw foods, Natural Hygiene, as well as offering
juicers, distillers, dehydrators and other products. Provides a large
catalog. Does not accept c.cards, does accept foreign orders (send
order w/out check, will respond with exact amount to send). DRM

Victoria seems a little different than most political vegetarians,
although one might easily come to feel that the images and ideas that
she portrays are implicity "political" in a cultural sense. She likes
"Americanism" as a motif, and her books and her portrayal of herself in
drawings (looking like the Statue of Liberty draped in a flag) reinforce
that notion.

8 The Sprout House
  P.O. Box 1100 Great Barrington, MA 01230 ph. (413) 528-5200
Provides organic sprouting seeds (usually good for smaller quantities),
sprouting bags, bamboo basket kits, books and tapes from the
"Sproutman" Steve Meyerowitz. Small catalog available, accepts Visa/MC,
  US, PR, and Canadian orders.DRM

Steve Meyerowitz, aka "Sproutman," began the Sprout House with the same
whimsy that he once displayed when he played the piano and performed
comedy routines around sprouting. Steve is a really lovable guy who is
married and has several kids, all of whom truly love sprouting.

12 Hippocrates Health Institue
1442 Palmdale Ct., West Palm Beach, FL 33411 ph (800) 842-2125
Originally founded by Ann Wigmore in Boston, this organization
offers a retreat in a resort environment which includes raw food
preperations, juices, medical consultations, live blood analysis,
and guest speakers, such as Marilyn Diamond, Victoras Kulvinskas,
and Dick Gregrory. Provides classes and newsletter. Not inexpensive!

Brian Clement was once the administrator for HHI in Boston. There were
some legal wranglings about what many called "his split with Ann" and his
move to Florida, effectively taking the name and the legal identity of
Ann Wigmore's "baby," HHI. Ann Wigmore knew what had happened, although
many of her followers didn't at the time, and she immediately went to work
creating another organization, "The Ann Wigmore Foundation," which was
housed in the building next door to the old 25 Exeter Street, Boston.
When Ann Wigmore caught 196 Commonwealth Avenue on fire in the middle of
the night (making a pot of tea in a device that had clumsy wiring), she
effectively destroyed the building and "The Institute" and died in the
process. (A little splinter group that claimed Ann Wigmore's spiritual
teachings, "Rising Sun Christianity," considers itself part of a
"three-way split" at the time of Brian Clement's "breakaway," but alas,
what became "New Hippocrates" (in the Boston area) eventually became
inactive, having never really enjoyed good working relationships with
the staff of the AWF. Of course, hardly anyone else ever enjoyed good
working relationships with the staff of AWF. They seemed incredibly
cliquish. Brian Clement and his wife, incidentally, claim to be "nudists."

13 The American Natural Hygiene Society
   P.O. Box 30630, Tampa FL 33630. (818) 855-6607 DRM

Jim Lennon and crew of ANHS actually lobby Congress. They keep a Herbert
Shelton library with Shelton's archives.

14 The Canadian Natural Hygiene Society, Attn Joe Aaron
   P.O. Box 235, Station "T", Toronto, Ontario, Canada M6B 4A1 DRM

Joe and Gladys Aaron have renamed their organization the Canadian Natural
Health Society, thus retaining the initials of the organization. When I
spoke with them this year and last year at the Toronto Vegetarian Food
Fair, they seemed to be quite successful in terms of having a growing
membership and selling lots of books.

15 Natural Nygiene, Incorporated, Attn Jo Willard
   P.O. Box 2132, Huntington, CT 06084 (203) 929-5566 DRM

Ms. Jo Williard was once the administrator of the American Natural Hygiene
Society.

16 Health Excellence Systems, Attn T.C. Fry
   1108 Regal Row, Manchaca, TX 78652 (512) 280-5566
publisher of many books more accessible to lay persons than Dr Shelton.
   DRM

T. C. Fry has been "going out of business" for several decades.
He is the first truly entrepreneurial retailer of natural hygiene ideas
and paraphernalia.

Accused of "malpractice without a license" in several locations, he merely
moves on and sets up a new operation (presumably with the old stock). I
know a few folks who have felt a little unhappy about his "folding" while
they still had subscription time left on their subscriptions. Last time
he folded, as far as I know, Victoria Bidwell purchased his stock at a
discount (bailing him out) and tried to make good on the bulk of his
promises. Apparently she also purchased the liabilities (not merely the
assets) as part of the overall package.
