The response to my "Reality" post was interesting. The general
concensus seems to be that we should be responsible for ourselves, and
understanding of others who are not responsible for us.even if they
purport to represent our interest (professionals, politicians, the media)
I was told that I should send messages to parties of influence. Someone
even offered to tell me what to say, if I could not find my own words.

I do not mean to be confrontational; I do have to be questioning. I
cannot accept everything that is entered as fact, even in this forum. I
question whether there is any more association with birth defects
and celiacs than there is an association to the general populace. I
imagine Celiacs give birth to as many "normal' children in ratio.

Just because someone sees some resemblance does not mean anything
concrete. An article in this weeks' BUSINESS WEEK describes an ailment
that manifests many of the conditions that match numerous Celiac
experiences- even to an aberration in the immune system. The ailment is
leaking Silicone breast implants!! Does this mean that the people who
reacted to the breast implants were all undiagnosed CELIACS?

I doubt it. However, I think the connection might be explored. The fact
that the immune system was compromised in those instances, might have
some relevance to what triggers adult celiac disease. Who knows?

I hope I have not presented myself as just argumentative. I take my
Celiac Disease, Dermatitis Herpetiformis and concomitant afflictions
very seriously. I do not let those afflictions deter me from living.
However, I have paid toward many "coffee and pastry" seminars. where I
have abstained from partaking of the "goodies". I never eat for many
hours before an evening meeting. My suppers are often at ten P.M.

Please let me know that I can contribute questioning to this list, and
do not have to accept every given answer as relevant. I must sift!! AMS
