Hi Everyone:

I've been a subscriber since the early summer, and I have read the FAQ.
I still have a few questions. Unfortunately, my mother is no longer
living. She might have been able to help me to solve these questions.

I was born in 1953, in a very rural town in Virginia. My family moved
back North, shortly after I was born. She said that I was very sick,
and none of the local doctors were able to help me.

My mother told me that I was diagnosed with Celiac, and that I aided the
research of a Doctor (She said that his name was Reedy, Ready (SP?) in
Albany, New York.

She described my problem as an inability to digest _complex proteins_.
As a solution, I was raised as a vegitarian for the first few years,
although my parents were meat eaters. Meat was introduced into my diet
@ around three years, although I never enjoyed it. I have been a
vegitarian since High School.

I always remember eating bread and pasta, and not getting sick from them,
but did have problems with milk.

...Cut to the present...

I'm an Instructional Designer/Technical Writer. A few years ago, I
worked on the launch of the new Cyctic Fibrosis drug. I was interested
to learn that most CF patients exhibit what they call Celiac, before they
are diagnosed with CF.

Their celiac treatment consists of digestive enzymes, taken before
meals. No mention was made about any issues with gluten.

Now, I see what is currently described as Celiac Disease.

Are these three things called celiac the same, or are they different? I'm
trying to figure out the digestive problems that I had as a child, and
how I can help myself now.

Any information would be most helpful.

Thank you, in advance,
