Sounds pretty unsurprising to me. Chimps beg for em. My limited experience
has been very pleasant. If there is a correlation (and that correlation is
based on metabolic utility) between %RAF and brain size, one might offer up
the idea that chimps (and perhaps vegans and cooked AF (CAF) consumers) are
struggling to feed their relatively big brains with a limited supply/access
of RAF. How much RAF would a chimp eat if s/he had unlimited access? How
much CAF would they consume? Did our early ancestors go completely
overboard with CAF which lacked the clear taste-change of RAF? `(:-)

The _very_ controversial (in paleoanthro circles at least) Aquatic Ape
Theory (as expoused by Elaine Morgan mostly) contends that it was the
increased %seafood (and component Omega3's, EPA, DHA) in coastal homonids
which may have enabled the explosion of human brain size--an explosion also
seen in other sea mammals, esp dolphins and whales. (Yes, there have
evolved plant eating whales but indications are that the kelp-eating whales
were downline from the high %RAF consuming progeniters.)

Dolphins are as cool to me as to many new-agers*, many of whom do not hold
dolphins in disfavor for their _high_ RAF consumption. Why haven't
dolphins, who are arguably as brainy as humans, formulated a spirituality
based on plant consumption. :^)

* Meaning: Dolphins are cool to many new-agers; not new-agers are as cool
as dolphins to me. <g>

Cheers,
Kirt (who would _love_ to see the reference to what John remembers!)
