Somewhere in my readings over the past five years I read something saying
that there were more celiacs diagnosed in infancy during the years when
they encouraged the early introduction of cereals into the diet. Also in
the early 50's doctors actively discouraged breast feeding as it was the
era of high tech and I guess they felt formula was better! The article
did state that is was possible that the later introduction of cereals
just may mean that the celiac disease wasn't showing up until later in
life as more people were now being diagnosed at an older age.
