Which screenreader are you using?  Is this a JAWS problem?

Well folks, thanks to my computer guy Rick, problem solved.

Unfortunately, on at least this talking computer, if you type

5 0 0 then the decimal point key, then 0 0 then the times key, then 1 0 then the percent key, it's going to say point 01, however, if, after you press the percent key, you press the equals key, it does say 50.
