Gmail is alive and well.
What is going away is Google Plus, which is Google's social network,
kind of like Facebook. It went online around 2011, but it hasn't taken
off as well as Google had hoped. My guess is that people had already
joined Facebook, Linked In, Twitter, etc., and couldn't deal with yet
another network. That was my own experience, at least.
