Hello Jeff,

Try downloading the file to your computer, Then open it and try saving it and see if you are prompted to "enable saving". It may be opening in "read only" mode, which JAWS often does not read.

Best,

Terri

Subject: [VICUG-L] JAWS 18 OCR and a word document?

Hi everyone. I am currently using the latest build of JAWS 18 and plan on updating to 2018 later this month when it later comes out. HOwever, I got a letter today from my DSS and I think that this is either concerning either Medicade or SNAP/food stamps and it came on a CD. It was in Word and appears to have been scanned. I tried the OCR reader with JAWS and nothing happened after several minutes. I am going to call DSS to see what this letter was about, but am surprised that OCR didn’[t work on this Word document that also was scanned like a PDS document. The file was available both as an RTF and standard document and neither worked.
