To highlight a column for doing anything, put your cursor at the top of
the column, hold down the shift key while you press the end key, then
the down arrow key. If the column has data in it, the highlight will
expand until it reaches the next blank cell. If the column is empty,
the highlight will expand the entire column to the end of the sheet.
You actually can do this in any direction. Hold the shift key and press
end and then any arrow key to expand the highlight in that direction.
