Dear GF knowledge base,
In response to Ayn's posting, I was wondering if there were any recent
studies on the accuracy of the genetic testing?
I have heard and read various things over the years ranging from 2 genes or
3 genes involved; various percentages of endoscopy diagnosed celiacs without
the markers and the number of relatives with celiac that have the markers
but do not have celiac. We were told by a GI doc that genetic testing has
its place in helping but is not conclusive and how one feels/responds to
eating GF is a better indicator.
I would appreciate positive, intelligent conversation on this. I am not
trying to make any statement about genetic testing generally but obtain more
information.
Thanks!
Karen Shirley
