Yep, greetings from the Bread Basket of the world...North America. I
absolutely agree with you. Wheat & wheat products are everywhere.

Again, I have biopsied positive for CD, but am mostly asymptomatic. I
KNOW the trigger was mononucleosis. If I went to a physician right now,
he would more likely diagnose me as having a syndrome, a collection of
symptoms (either IBS or Chronic Fatigue) & offer me drugs to control the
symptoms, than he would try to diagnose the root of my symptoms. I know,
because it's happened to me! Mr. Z, I couldn't agree with you more.

Incidentally, folks, because I have the latent form of CD, over the
twelve years that I suffered from damaged villi, I developed psychiatric
symptoms, likely due to multiple (B) vitamin & mineral
deficiencies. The link between CD & schizoform diseases seems to be
another skeleton in the closet. If you have a relative in psychiatric
distress, it's something to think about.

Do I think this autoimmunity can be triggered by more than one virus?
Absotootin'lutly. And I offer myself as one example. Some of the
Chronic Fatigue symptoms overlap with ours. Look at the name! Muscle
fatigue was in Samuel Gee's earliest description. Oh, and the doctor who
is making a name for himself treating CF, advises his patients to avoid
wheat (some of the symptoms are abdominal pain, diarrhea, irritable
bowel--how many of these patients are biopsied?)

 Thank you all for listening.

The Bec
