My 3 year old son was diagnosed with Celiac Sprue this past Febuary. I
never heard of it until then. Upon hearing about it, as well as being
part of this group I realized I am also a likely canidate. I have had
loose stools since I can remember, have battled chronic anemia all my
life, have skin sores/ rashes, have calcuim deficiencies noted in blood
tests, have severe lactose intolerance. I had asked my doctor since Feb
to test for it. He said no repeatedly, so I just started following the
diet. My anemia has improved plus I feel great. NOW he said he should
give me the blood tests for it. I said they would now probably come out
negative as I have been following the diet. He said that isn't true, as
he spoke to the Gastroenterologist. My question to all of you, How long
would I have to go back on a gluten diet for it to not show a false
negative? God only knows that if it comes out negative, I will never get
a chance for a referal to a Gastroenterologist. By the way, I overheard
the Gastroenterologist say the blood test may NOT be affected by the
diet. So why would my Doctor listen to me and not the specialist!!!

I would appreciate any thoughts quickly as the blood tests have been
ordered up!!
THanks

Diane
