I haven't had my hands on the 991 or the 1200, Mike, but I think you should
consider the FTDX-1200 without the add-on FFT board. Price would be similar
to an FT-991 and when not using a computer it would likely be a lot more
accessible than a 991. Of course, if you really think you need a rig that
will do SSB and CW on 2 meters and 70 centimeters in the same box, maybe the
991 is the right rig for you. There seem to have been a lot of issues with
the finals of the 991 that didn't plague the 1200. At least there are
documents showing the command specifications for these rigs, but there is
still nothing like Jim using an actual radio and being able to debug the
software on it.

Hi Jim:
Well your probably gonna guess where I'd like to see your software go with
regards to future supported rigs. LOL As for TT, have you been told when you
might receive 1 and what model?
I suspect that TT won't be releaszing anything until possible the winter of
2017 as Dishtronics is currently focused on probably the new amp and
relateds. To be objective, maybe you should look at the affordable side of
things as a basis. Icom vs Yaesu, IC-7100 VS the FT-991 etc. Which rig
vender has a more of a following for the blind, after Kenwood, keeping
affordability in mind, which I would think would be Icom. I know Elecraft
has a following but I'm not likely to spend upwards of 3500CDN on a 10W QRP
rig, let alone 5000 for the K-3S but that's just me. I'm thinking of a new
rig in the next 2 or 3 years and I'm a Yaesu guy so likely will be an FT-991
with the N4PY software or yours if you go Yaesu.
Just my thoughts.
