The simplest solution might be to just add another serial port.
Have him check his documentation for the program and/or the
steering wheel driver and see if it can use COMM3 or COMM4.
The one draw back is that the mouse and modem may have to be
juggled. The thing with COMM ports is that you can not use
port 1 and 3 at the same time and you can't use 2 and 4 at
the same time. Combinations of 1&2 or 3&4 are okay though.
There are interface cards that will allow you to create up
to 8 comm ports but they are hard to find AND hard to install.
