I have several patients who are students going to college this year. The new diet experience is a new risk for a celiac. If you get into gluten it can take up to 4 weeks for antibodies to come up. So, if you go to college and are feeling celiac symptoms, get an celiac antibody level after 4 weeks of symptoms. But if you are fine, do get a celiac antibody level after about 3 months even if you are feeling OK. This is just to check that the change in diet is not bothering you. Most students get home for a break about 3 months into school, so make an appointment with your doctor anticipating your being home.
