In case anyone is interested, I am extremely satisfied with my new MFJ-297
microphones. There are a total of six buttons on the base that can be
programmed from the menu selections on my TS-590s. However, these buttons
are programmable only with a Kenwood transceiver, and you have to be sure to
purchase the correct cable for your particular rig, e.g. my TS-590s required
the MFJ 597k cable.
