First, Alan, my thought are with you as you undertake your second battle with cancer.

The strange thing that surprises a lot of people is that there are many lung cancer victims who have never smoked nor been exposed to second-hand smoke. Of course, there are a lot of other causalities for cancer, including some that are genetically triggered.

There is some interesting research at Mayo Clinic now on the ability to turn off some cellular mutations to keep the cancer from multiplying.

Sure I was because I grew up in the 60's when most all adults smoked. If I
remember correctly, the Surgeon General's declaration that smoking was
hazardous to your health came out in 1964. By the time that anyone payed
attention to the declaration, it was in the 70's when I moved into a dorm at
MIT. Very few kids smoked.
