Frank,

 From time to time you may see references on this list to the elusive 
LDG TW-1, which is a no longer produced talking swr/wattmeter.

If you want to get into the hundreds of dollars range, the Array 
Solutions Power Master will work in conjunction with a screen reader on 
the  PC, or with a Hampod.   The Wavenode WN-2 has some self voicing, or 
  can be read with a screen reader.

If I remember right, Jim KE5AL  was able to access the SWR info from the 
Kenwood rigs in his JJ Radio software.
