Frank I had my x y l help me and here is how mine is set up. Looking from
the front where the large buttons are, on the rear where the large mic
cables are, use the left one which is B. the two slide switches on the
underside the left switch is slid back, the right switch is forward toward
the front. The two large flat switches are mic, left and right lock. the
next row left is mic on to the right is a light telling you it is on. The
two next are like your up and down buttons on your hand mic. The rear 4
going back are P F keys and those and the two on the front you can program
anyway you please which you can set.according to your Kenwood manual. I am
using a 590 and I would think the info on programing should be there. It
takes a special cable you get from M F J which you most likely know, I did
not and had to send for one. Good luck. 73

Subject: Setting up the MFJ 297
Hi all I am trying to set up a MFJ 297 with my Kenwood TS2000. The manual s=
ays to plug the connector into jack B. If I am looking at the mike from the=
rear is B on the left or right? Also it says there is a switch to set on t=
hebottom for jack B? Which switch is it and should it be pushed to the fron=
t or rear of the mike? I am assuming the four butons just at the base of th=
e mike neck ar PF keys set in the menu of the TS2000. The row below has one=
button (is this the power button) a led and two other buttons. Below that =
there are two large buttons. Is the one on the right the PTT button and one=
on the left the lock?
Thanks for any help
Frank
