That's what I really like about using braille.  I just turn the TS-590 
speech off.

Yes, but Mike (and others) don't want to have to push the button to silence
the speech.  Unfortunately, as I said previously, it's an all or nothing
proposition, and I wish Kenwood had allowed some configurability.  Maybe
some day they will.
